ECI mandates QR codes on vehicles transporting cash in poll-bound states

In a significant move to enhance transparency and security during the upcoming elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has mandated that all bank vehicles transporting cash in four states and one Union Territory must display QR codes. This directive, aimed at preventing electoral malpractice, requires the QR codes to be generated through the Election Seizure Management System (ESMS). The affected regions include key poll-bound states where political activities are intensifying ahead of the elections. By implementing this measure, the ECI seeks to monitor the movement of cash more effectively, thereby bolstering the integrity of the electoral process. This initiative reflects the ECI's commitment to ensuring free and fair elections amid growing concerns over the influence of unaccounted money in politics. District administrations in these regions have been instructed to ensure compliance, reinforcing the importance of transparency in the electoral process as candidates gear up for the upcoming polls.
