India monitors 28 merchant ships in Persian Gulf, 10 million Indians in West Asia

In response to heightened tensions in the Persian Gulf due to the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States, India is closely monitoring 28 merchant vessels carrying more than 770 Indian seafarers. The Ministry of External Affairs has emphasized its commitment to ensuring the safety of its nationals in the region. With approximately 10 million Indians residing in West Asia, the government is also implementing measures to assist those who may be stranded or facing difficulties due to the geopolitical situation. Indian authorities are working to establish communication channels and provide support to ensure the well-being of their citizens abroad. This proactive approach reflects India's broader strategy to safeguard its overseas workforce, particularly in regions marked by instability. The situation underscores the importance of diplomatic engagement and timely interventions to protect its citizens in foreign territories.
