A cargo vessel carrying 46,000 metric tonnes of LPG from Qatar has safely arrived at Mundra Port in Gujarat, providing critical fuel supply relief to India amid West Asia tensions.

A cargo vessel carrying 46,000 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Qatar has safely arrived at Mundra Port in Gujarat, providing significant relief to India amid ongoing tensions in West Asia.

Key Details

The vessel Shivalik departed Qatar on March 7 and crossed the Strait of Hormuz on March 14 before proceeding to India. Port authorities arranged priority berthing to expedite the unloading process.

The consignment is enough to fill nearly 3.24 million domestic LPG cylinders. Once offloaded, supplies will be distributed across the country.

This marks the first LPG vessel to reach India during the current regional tensions, providing crucial support to India's fuel supply chain.

More Shipments on the Way

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways confirmed that two additional vessels are en route. Nanda Devi, carrying 46,000 tonnes of LPG, and Jag Laadki, transporting 81,000 tonnes of crude oil, are expected to arrive the following day.
