Madhya Pradesh: Stray cattle to get saffron tags to help manage them better

In Madhya Pradesh, the state government has initiated a unique strategy to address the rising issue of stray cattle, which have been implicated in numerous road accidents. Recent data from the State Crime Record Bureau reveals that these animals were responsible for 237 accidents, resulting in 94 fatalities and 133 injuries. To mitigate this danger, the government plans to introduce saffron tags for stray cattle, aiming to enhance management and tracking of these animals. This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve road safety and reduce accidents caused by stray cattle, which have become increasingly prevalent on highways and rural roads. By identifying and monitoring these animals more effectively, authorities hope to prevent future incidents and ensure the safety of both motorists and the stray animals themselves. The introduction of saffron tags is expected to streamline the efforts of local authorities and animal welfare organizations in managing stray cattle populations more humanely and efficiently.
