MHA allows enhanced 7-yr deputation for central police forces, Assam Rifles personnel joining NSG

In a significant policy shift, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has authorized an extended seven-year deputation for personnel from central police forces and the Assam Rifles who are joining the National Security Guard (NSG). This decision aims to enhance the operational capabilities and expertise within the NSG, which is a premier counter-terrorism unit in India. Previously, the tenure for such deputations was limited, affecting the continuity and depth of training and experience that could be developed. With this new directive, the MHA hopes to attract more skilled personnel to the NSG, thereby strengthening the nation's response to security challenges. The move is also seen as a means to bolster collaboration between various security forces and improve the overall effectiveness of India's counter-terrorism efforts. The NSG, established in 1984, plays a crucial role in safeguarding national security and responding to various emergencies, making the enhancement of its human resources vital for its operational success.
