MoD signs contracts worth ₹5,083 cr for ALH, Shtil missiles

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has finalized contracts valued at ₹5,083 crore for the procurement of Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) and Shtil missiles. This strategic acquisition aims to significantly bolster the air defense systems of frontline Indian Navy warships, enhancing their capability to counter a wide range of aerial threats. The ALH is known for its versatility and operational efficiency, while the Shtil missiles are designed to provide robust defense against missiles and aircraft. This move is part of India’s ongoing efforts to modernize its defense forces and ensure maritime security in an increasingly volatile regional landscape, particularly in the context of rising geopolitical tensions. The contracts reflect India's commitment to strengthening indigenous defense production and reducing reliance on foreign military equipment, aligning with the government's 'Make in India' initiative. These developments are expected to contribute to the operational readiness of the Indian Navy and enhance its deterrence capabilities in the Indian Ocean Region.
