NCERT trims Class 9 English syllabus, features texts by Sudha Murty, Tagore

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has announced significant changes to the Class 9 English curriculum, reducing the number of textbooks from two to one and cutting the total number of texts from 29 to 16. The revised syllabus aims to streamline the learning process and enhance the teaching experience for both educators and students. Among the selected works in the updated curriculum are notable authors such as Sudha Murty and Rabindranath Tagore, whose texts are expected to resonate with students and foster a deeper appreciation for literature. This decision comes as part of NCERT's broader initiative to modernize educational content and make it more relevant to today's learners. The changes will be implemented in the upcoming academic year, and the council encourages feedback from educators and parents to further refine the syllabus. This revision reflects a growing emphasis on quality over quantity in education, ensuring that students engage meaningfully with the literature they study.
