Northeast To Get First Highway Landing Strip, Close To China, Myanmar Borders

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the region's first Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) on the Moran bypass of National Highway 2 in Assam's Dibrugarh district on Saturday. This strategic infrastructure is designed to enhance the region's connectivity and security, particularly given its proximity to the borders with China and Myanmar. The ELF aims to facilitate emergency landings for aircraft, thereby bolstering air traffic management and response capabilities in the Northeast. The initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to improve infrastructure in border areas, which is seen as vital for national security and regional development. The establishment of this facility is expected to significantly benefit local residents and enhance the overall accessibility of the area. As the Northeast continues to develop, such projects are essential for fostering economic growth and connectivity, enabling better integration with the rest of India and neighboring countries.
