Odisha approves SOP for Jagannath Temple’s Ratna Bhandar inventory

The Odisha government has officially approved a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for conducting an inventory of the Ratna Bhandar, the treasure trove of the Jagannath Temple in Puri. This decision was announced by Arabinda Padhee, the chief administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, following its presentation before Lord Jagannath on Tuesday. The Ratna Bhandar holds immense cultural and religious significance, housing a collection of valuable artifacts and ornaments associated with the deity. The inventory process aims to ensure transparency and accountability in managing these sacred assets, addressing concerns raised by devotees and stakeholders regarding their safety and preservation. This move also aligns with broader efforts by the temple administration to enhance trust and faith among the temple's followers, particularly in light of previous controversies regarding the management of temple assets. The implementation of the SOP is expected to streamline the inventory process, setting a precedent for similar initiatives in other temples across the state, thereby bolstering the governance of religious institutions in Odisha.
