Over 60% elected councillors from OBC, says T’gana backward classes body chief

In a significant development for Telangana's political landscape, the chief of the state's backward classes body has announced that over 61% of the elected councillors in the recent municipal elections belong to Other Backward Classes (OBC). This figure surpasses the proposed reservation of 42%, highlighting a growing awareness and representation of OBC candidates in local governance. The elections not only reflect a shift in political dynamics but also signal an increasing recognition of the importance of OBC communities in the state's socio-political framework. This trend is expected to influence future policies and initiatives aimed at empowering marginalized sections of society, fostering inclusivity in governance and decision-making processes throughout Telangana. As the political landscape evolves, the success of OBC candidates may serve as a catalyst for further discussions on reservation policies and affirmative action in the state.
