PM Modi was invited to Bangladesh new government inauguration, Om Birla to attend instead

Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India has opted out of attending the inauguration of Bangladesh's new government, which is now led by Sheikh Hasina's Awami League party, following the recent elections. Instead, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will represent India at the event. The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized India's support for Bangladesh's democratic processes and expressed optimism regarding the country's transition to an elected government under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This transition is seen as a vital step in strengthening bilateral ties between India and Bangladesh, both of which share cultural and historical links. The Indian government has consistently advocated for democratic governance in its neighboring countries, reflecting its commitment to regional stability and cooperation. The participation of Om Birla underscores India's intent to maintain close diplomatic relations with Bangladesh, even in the absence of its Prime Minister at the inaugural ceremony.
