Rural tap water connections rose from 17 to 82 per cent since launch of Jal Jeevan Mission: Prez

The Jal Jeevan Mission, launched by the Indian government to enhance water supply in rural areas, has significantly improved access to tap water, with connections soaring from a mere 17% to 82%. President Droupadi Murmu highlighted these achievements during her address at a recent event, noting that this initiative has made a substantial impact on the quality of life for millions of rural residents. The mission aims to provide functional household tap connections to every rural home by 2024, aligning with the government's commitment to ensure safe and adequate drinking water for all. This transformative program not only addresses basic necessities but also promotes public health and economic growth in rural communities. The increase in water supply infrastructure is expected to foster better hygiene practices and reduce waterborne diseases, ultimately contributing to a healthier population. As the mission progresses, efforts will continue to expand coverage and maintain the quality of water supply, ensuring that the benefits reach all households across the country.
