Safaris in Nagarhole, Bandipur to resume from Feb 19: Khandre

Safari operations in Karnataka's renowned Bandipur and Nagarhole national parks are set to resume on February 19, following a temporary suspension aimed at addressing escalating human-wildlife conflicts. This decision, announced by Karnataka's Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre, is seen as a crucial step towards balancing wildlife conservation with tourism interests. The ban, which had been in place to mitigate incidents involving wildlife encroachment into human habitats, raised concerns among local businesses and tourism operators who rely heavily on safari activities. The parks are known for their rich biodiversity and are popular destinations for wildlife enthusiasts. As safaris recommence, authorities are expected to implement enhanced safety measures to prevent future conflicts, ensuring both visitor safety and the protection of wildlife habitats. This move is anticipated to rejuvenate tourism in the region, which has faced significant setbacks during the suspension period, thereby supporting the local economy and promoting sustainable wildlife tourism in Karnataka.
