Samsung Testing 12,000mAh, 18,000mAh Batteries With Dual Cell and Triple Cell Designs, Leaked Reports Show

Samsung is currently in the testing phase for high-capacity silicon-carbon smartphone batteries, with prototypes boasting capacities of 12,000mAh and 18,000mAh. Reports indicate that the 12,000mAh battery utilizes a dual-cell design, while the 18,000mAh variant incorporates a triple-cell structure. These advancements come as part of Samsung SDI's efforts to enhance battery management systems and cell stacking techniques. However, a more ambitious 20,000mAh prototype reportedly did not pass durability tests after approximately 960 charge cycles. Silicon-carbon technology is particularly notable for its ability to store significantly more energy compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries, potentially allowing for the production of slimmer smartphones equipped with much larger battery capacities.
