SC asks Netaji’s daughter to move court herself for return of ashes from Japan

The Supreme Court of India has directed the daughter of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose to file her own petition regarding the return of her father's ashes currently held in Japan. The bench, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, dismissed a petition submitted by Ashish Ray, Netaji's grandnephew and an author, indicating that personal family members should take direct action in such matters. This decision places the responsibility on Netaji's daughter to pursue the legal process for the repatriation of the ashes, a significant symbol of her father’s legacy. The ashes of the prominent freedom fighter have been a matter of contention and emotional significance for his descendants and the nation alike. The Supreme Court's ruling underscores the need for direct representation from the family in what is viewed as a personal and national concern. The demand for the return of Netaji’s ashes has gained momentum over the years, reflecting ongoing interest in his historical contributions and legacy in India’s struggle for independence.
