SC seeks procedural protocol of AAIB probe into Air India plane crash

The Supreme Court of India has directed the Union government and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to submit the procedural protocols being adhered to in the investigation led by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) into the Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner crash that occurred in June 2025 near Ahmedabad. This inquiry is crucial as it aims to ensure transparency and accountability in the investigation process, which is essential for improving aviation safety standards. The court's request underscores the importance of understanding the investigative procedures that follow aviation accidents, particularly in light of the increasing air traffic in India. The findings from this investigation could have significant implications for aviation policies and regulations in the country, as they will provide insights into the causes of the accident and help prevent future occurrences. As the aviation sector continues to grow, such investigations are vital for maintaining public trust and safety in air travel.
