TN govt announces ₹2 per unit power subsidy to eateries switching to induction stoves

The Tamil Nadu government has introduced a significant initiative aimed at promoting energy efficiency in the hospitality sector. Announcing a subsidy of ₹2 per unit of electricity, the program is designed to encourage restaurants and eateries to transition from traditional cooking methods to induction stoves. This move aligns with the state's broader commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon footprints. Officials stated that the subsidy will not only lower operational costs for businesses but also contribute to a substantial decrease in energy consumption. By adopting induction cooking, eateries can also enhance their cooking efficiency and improve food safety standards. The government aims to support the local economy while fostering responsible energy usage among food service establishments. This policy is expected to be a part of a larger set of reforms aimed at modernizing the food industry in Tamil Nadu, making it more eco-friendly and competitive in a changing market landscape.
