‘Traffic violations may soon lead to temporary suspension of licences’

In a significant move aimed at enhancing road safety, India is set to introduce a point-based system for traffic violations. Under this new framework, drivers will accumulate points for various infractions, with the threshold for penalties set at 12 points. Once this limit is reached, offenders will face a temporary suspension of their driving licenses for a period of six months. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the government to reduce road accidents and promote responsible driving behavior among citizens. The implementation of such a system aligns with global best practices in traffic management and is anticipated to encourage compliance with traffic regulations. This reform reflects India's commitment to improving road safety standards and reducing the alarming rate of traffic-related fatalities that have plagued the nation in recent years.
