Troops of India, Seychelles to take part in joint exercise 'Lamitiye' from Mar 9-20

From March 9 to March 20, 2024, Indian and Seychellois armed forces will engage in a joint military exercise named 'Lamitiye' in Seychelles. This collaborative initiative aims to enhance interoperability and strengthen defense cooperation between the two nations. The exercise will focus on various tactical operations, including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, which are crucial in the context of natural calamities that both countries face. India's growing strategic partnerships in the Indian Ocean region underscore its commitment to fostering regional security and stability, particularly in collaboration with island nations like Seychelles. This exercise not only showcases India's military capabilities but also reinforces its role as a key player in ensuring maritime security in the Indian Ocean. The two countries have a history of cooperation in defense matters, and 'Lamitiye' is expected to further deepen these ties, reflecting their shared interests in combating piracy and other maritime threats. As both nations navigate their respective security challenges, the joint exercise symbolizes a unified approach towards maintaining peace and stability in the region.
