Union minister advises Odisha govt to organise 'Tithi Bhojan', Poshan Diwas in Anganwadi centres

Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani, has urged the Odisha government to implement 'Tithi Bhojan' and Poshan Diwas initiatives at Anganwadi centres across the state. 'Tithi Bhojan' is a community-driven program that encourages families to contribute meals to Anganwadi centres on special occasions, fostering a sense of community while promoting nutritional support for children. Poshan Diwas, observed annually on March 8, focuses on raising awareness about malnutrition and improving dietary practices. Irani emphasized the importance of these programs in enhancing the nutritional intake of children and pregnant women, which aligns with the central government's efforts to combat malnutrition across the country. The minister's recommendation aims to strengthen the existing nutritional framework in Odisha and ensure that vulnerable populations receive adequate nourishment. This call to action also reflects the government's commitment to improving maternal and child health, especially in rural areas where access to quality food remains a challenge. The Odisha government is expected to consider these initiatives as part of its broader strategy to address malnutrition and improve health outcomes in the state.
