West Bengal rolls out SOP to tackle LPG shortage amid West Asia conflict

In response to ongoing LPG shortages exacerbated by the conflict in West Asia, the West Bengal government has implemented a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) aimed at mitigating the crisis. The state has established a 24/7 LPG control room along with dedicated helplines to assist citizens facing difficulties in accessing gas supplies. This initiative comes at a critical time, as the shortages have begun to affect essential services, including schools, hospitals, restaurants, and temples, leading to widespread disruption. The government’s proactive measures are designed to ensure that residents can report issues and receive timely assistance, thereby stabilizing the supply chain during these challenging times. With the geopolitical situation influencing fuel availability, authorities are keen to address the immediate concerns of the public and maintain essential services across the state. The SOP reflects West Bengal's commitment to managing the crisis effectively and ensuring that its citizens have access to necessary resources, particularly as the festive season approaches.
